Can I check my bags 30 minutes before departure?

Checking bags 30 minutes before departure is usually too late. Most airlines require baggage check-in at least 45 minutes prior to the flight. Boarding typically closes 15 minutes before takeoff, making it difficult to process luggage within that short window.

Minimum check-in time? Can I check bags 30 minutes before my flight?

Ugh, this airline stuff is always so confusing. Last time, flying out of Gatwick on July 12th, I was sweating bullets trying to make my 10 am flight. They wouldn't let me check my bag, the cut-off was 40 minutes before. Nearly missed the plane!

Thirty minutes is usually cutting it way too close, especially with bags. Most airlines are stricter than you think.

My experience tells me you need at least 45 minutes, possibly an hour, to be safe. It's better to be early than sprinting through security, sweating, and practically begging them to let you on.

It also depends on your airport; Heathrow is a beast. That's my two cents anyway. You're likely better off arriving much earlier than 30 minutes before your flight's scheduled departure time.
