Okay, so you want to, like, not get charged a ton for texts when you’re outta the country? I got you. It’s a major pain, right? Happened to my mom, big time, like 2 years ago… she got slammed with a $200 bill. Whoa!

First thing: kill international roaming. Go into your phone’s settings, then “General” – or maybe it says “Connections,” depending on if you got an iPhone or an Android. Look for “Cellular,” then turn off “Data Roaming.” Its usually super easy!

Next, and this is important, turn OFF background app refresh! Same sorta place, in settings, look for where you can see all the apps, and their data usage. You want to toggle OFF any app you dont NEED using data.

• Apps like?: Facebook, defo, Instagram, email. Anything that refreshes for updates even when you aren’t using it.

• Like, all of them?: No! Just the ones you don’t actively use.

Like, if I’m traveling, I want Maps ON. Duh! And WhatsApp, so I can text my family withiut charges, ya know. Make sense?

• How else to text?: Use apps that use WiFi, like WhatsApp or Messenger. Or even email!
