Can I use a BTS card for MRT Bangkok?
Okay, so from what I understand, you cant directly use a BTS-branded card across the entire Bangkok MRT. I feel your pain – it would be so much easier! It sounds like the Rabbit card is what you need. Its like those travel cards back home, thankfully accepted not only on the BTS Skytrain and BRT but also the MRT Yellow and Pink Lines. Its a little frustrating having to keep track of multiple systems, but at least theres a slightly more unified option.
Okay, so you wanna use your BTS card on the MRT in Bangkok, huh? I totally get why you’d want to! Imagine swiping one card everywhere – a dream, right?
Well, from what I’ve gathered, it’s not quite that simple. Unfortunately, you can’t directly use a BTS-branded card on all the Bangkok MRT lines. Bummer, I know! I mean, wouldn’t that be amazing? Less fumbling, less confusion…
It seems like the Rabbit card is your best bet. Think of it like an Oyster card in London, or a MetroCard in New York – you know, those handy travel cards you load up with cash. Thankfully, the Rabbit card works on the BTS Skytrain (which is great!), the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), and the MRT Yellow and Pink Lines.
But yeah, it’s a little annoying, isn’t it? Having to juggle different systems. I remember being so confused my first time trying to navigate the Bangkok public transport! You’re standing there, sweaty, trying to figure out which line goes where and which card to use. It’s a whole thing!
Anyway, at least the Rabbit card gives you some unification. It’s a step in the right direction, I guess. So, yeah, grab a Rabbit card – it’ll make your life a little easier. Happy travels!
