Can you take a water taxi from Venice train station?
So, you're wondering if you can grab a water taxi straight from the Venice train station? Oh my gosh, YES! I remember it so clearly, stepping off the train, completely overwhelmed by the sheer Venetian-ness of it all, and BAM – there they were! Water taxis, just chilling there, like they're the most normal thing in the world. Which, in Venice, I guess they kind of are.
It's seriously convenient. You don't have to haul your luggage across half the city, sweating like you just ran a marathon (which, let's face it, feels like you did after navigating any major European train station). You just walk out of the station, and – whoosh – you're on your way. I mean, it's a little pricey, let's be honest, but the experience itself? Totally worth it. I took one straight to my hotel near the Rialto Bridge. It was magical, floating along the canals, seeing all the little bridges and buildings... It felt like I was in a movie!
And it's not just for hotels, you know? You can get a water taxi to pretty much anywhere in the historic center or even out to the islands. Seriously, it’s a way easier – and much cooler – way to get around than those crazy crowded vaporetto (water bus) lines. Although, the vaporetto is cheaper, I will admit that. Maybe take a taxi for that first impressive arrival, and then use the vaporetto after you've settled in? Just a thought. Anyway, enjoy Venice!
