Do I have to accept flight changes?
Whether you have to accept flight changes depends on the airline. Some require explicit acceptance, while others auto-confirm you. Significant changes often allow for a refund if you no longer wish to travel, or alternative flights do not suit your needs.
Must I Accept Flight Changes?
Ugh, flight changes – the worst. Remember that Ryanair flight last July 12th from Dublin to Rome? They swapped my 8 am for a 6 pm, no warning. Just a terse email. I had a dinner reservation! That was infuriating.
They did automatically put me on the later flight, thankfully. No refund offered, though.
But, a friend, Sarah, had a similar thing with British Airways last month – a massive schedule shift. They offered her a full refund, because the new time totally wrecked her trip. It was a business class flight though, so maybe that makes a difference?
So, it really depends. Airlines vary wildly. Check your ticket terms and the airline’s policy. I’d always contact them directly, just to be safe.
