Taiwan’s COVID-19 Entry Requirements for Travelers

As part of its ongoing efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, Taiwan has implemented strict entry protocols for inbound and transit passengers. One of the key requirements is the presentation of a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result before boarding their flight.

Negative COVID-19 Test Requirement

All travelers entering or transiting Taiwan, regardless of their vaccination status, are required to provide a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result. The test must be taken within 48 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure time. The test result must be issued by a laboratory certified by the relevant authorities in the traveler’s home country or region.

Acceptable Test Results

Only RT-PCR test results are accepted by Taiwan’s authorities. Rapid antigen tests and other testing methods are not considered valid for entry. The test result must include the following information:

• Date and time of the test
• Negative result for COVID-19
• Name and contact information of the laboratory that issued the result

Exemptions

Exemptions from the negative COVID-19 test requirement may be granted in certain circumstances, such as for infants under two years of age, travelers with medical conditions that prevent them from taking the test, or travelers who are transiting Taiwan for less than eight hours and remain in the transit area.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

Passengers who fail to present a valid negative COVID-19 test result upon arrival in Taiwan may be denied entry or subject to quarantine measures. Travelers are strongly advised to ensure that they comply with all entry requirements to avoid any disruptions to their travel plans.
