I rode Amtrak from Denver to Glenwood Springs, Colorado on 12th July this year. Cost about $80. Scenery was amazing. Definitely worth it.
Amtrak serves 46 states and even parts of Canada. They go pretty much everywhere. I've taken them up and down the East Coast too. Boston to NYC is a classic. Did that in April last year.
It's a pretty good way to travel, honestly. Just takes a little longer sometimes. But comfortable, plus you can get up and walk around.
