Do planes fly with two pilots?

You know, I've always wondered about that myself! Do planes fly with two pilots? Yes, they pretty much always do. At least all the big commercial jets do. I mean, can you imagine the pressure on just one person flying a giant metal bird across the ocean? I remember this one time, I was flying back from vacation – I think it was from Cancun? – and they actually made an announcement about the pilots. Something about how they were both super experienced and how many hours they'd flown. It made me feel so much safer, you know? It's like, okay, there are two people up there making sure we get there okay. Apparently, it's not just some random airline policy, either. It's actual regulations and stuff, all over the world. I guess it makes sense – it’s a lot of responsibility, right? And having two pilots is way safer if, God forbid, something happens to one of them. What would they do otherwise?! It's like a built-in backup system, which, honestly, is a pretty good idea when you’re hurtling through the sky at hundreds of miles an hour. So, yeah, two pilots. Always. Makes you feel a little bit better, doesn’t it?
