Do the trains run all night in Paris?

Okay, so you're wondering if you can hop on a train in Paris at, like, 3 AM? Sadly, the answer is no. Believe me, I wish they did! I remember one time, I was out late with some friends, completely lost track of time, and BAM! Suddenly it was after 1 AM. Let me tell you, finding a taxi in Paris at that hour is NOT easy.

Anyway, back to the trains. Usually, the last ones roll in around 1:15 AM from Sunday to Thursday. But hey, if you're planning a big Friday or Saturday night (or a night before a public holiday!), you get a little extra time – the last trains then are closer to 2:15 AM. Woohoo!

Then, things quiet down until about 5:30 AM when the first trains start chugging along again. So, yeah, there's definitely a chunk of the night where the Metro is asleep. It's a bummer, I know. Trust me, I've been there, staring blankly at a closed station wondering what to do. But hey, that's what taxis and late-night cafes are for, right? Gotta love those Parisian nights, even if they leave you stranded sometimes!
