Do they check ID on Italian trains?

Okay, so, about IDs on Italian trains... Do they check? Yes, they totally do. I remember this one time, I was heading from Rome to Florence, totally spaced and left my passport at the Airbnb. Panic! Luckily, I had a picture of it on my phone, and the conductor, bless her heart, accepted it. But, whew, that was close! So, yeah, always have your ID handy. It should match the name on your ticket, of course. Passport, driver's license, something official. What about those CartaFRECCIA things? Well, if you're using one of those loyalty cards, you only need to show it if you're the one traveling on the ticket linked to it. Makes sense, right? Don’t want someone using your points! And look, seriously, don't risk it. Nobody wants a fine, right? They can be pretty hefty. Just be prepared and it'll all be smooth sailing through those beautiful Italian landscapes!
