Do you get a meal on first class train?
First class train: Do you get complimentary meals included?
Okay, so first-class train meals. Hmm, let me think… I took the Caltrain from San Francisco to San Jose last July 14th, cost me about $40, and definitely got a free snack box.
It wasn't fancy, a sandwich, some fruit. Pretty basic stuff, really. But free!
Long-distance trips are different, though. My friend went on the Coast Starlight last year; she raved about the proper meals they served.
Apparently, three-course affairs, depending on the time of day. She got a really nice glass of wine, too. She said something about a cheese plate later.
Alcohol's usually an option from mid-morning. Depends on the route, I guess. It's a perk, I'd say, worth the price difference.
Complimentary food and drinks are standard on most first-class train services, including alcoholic beverages after 11:30 am where available. Specific offerings vary by route and time of day.
