Do you need tickets for Mt. Fuji?

Turns out, climbing the popular routes on Fuji-san during the official climbing season – that's from July 1st to September 10th – now requires tickets. I know, right? A bit of a bummer, maybe? I remember when you could just show up, but hey, things change!

Apparently, they implemented this new system to try and control the crowds, which can get insane, especially on weekends and holidays. I mean, imagine being stuck on a narrow path with hundreds of other people, all trying to get to the top. Not exactly a Zen experience, is it? And, let's be honest, the amount of litter people leave behind is just awful. Plus, they're hoping it'll improve safety for everyone. Makes sense when you think about it.

So, yeah, short answer: if you're planning to hike during that peak season, you're gonna need a ticket. No ticket, no Fuji, I guess! Plan ahead, okay? You don't wanna get all the way there and be turned away. Trust me, I'd hate for that to happen to you!
