Does Grab work in Hoi An, Vietnam?
Does Grab taxi work in Hoi An, Vietnam? Transportation options?
Okay, so does Grab work in Hoi An? Yeah, sorta. Here's the deal based on my trip there.
Grab's presence is real, yet not super strong. You CAN get a Grab car, but don't expect a swarm of choices like, say, in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City).
Riding from Da Nang Airport to Hoi An old town in September 2023, cost me about 380,000 VND, which is around $16, i think. So, Grab can work for that route.
Inside Hoi An itself though, things get trickier. I felt like finding a Grab driver willing to pick me up in the super-touristy center was often like, well, good luck.
Basically, think about other transport. Taxis are plentiful. They aren't hard to find.
Motorbike taxis are everywhere and super cheap if you are feeling a bit adventurous. Haggling is totally part of the process, y'know?
Plus, many hotels/homestays will happily arrange private cars, usually at a fixed price. Might be a bit more than Grab, but way less hassle.
Is Uber available in Hoi An Vietnam?
Uber's not officially in Hoi An, that's for sure. Weird, huh? We somehow managed a ride from Hoi An to Da Nang though, 279,000 VND. Smooth sailing, surprisingly. Maybe it was a loophole? Ugh, I hate those hidden fees. Was it really only 279,000? Seems cheap. I need to check my bank statement. Did I even tip? Probably not, I’m terrible at tipping.
- Price: 279,000 VND (Da Nang to Hoi An) - Seems too good to be true. Was it a fixed price or metered?
- Availability: Sporadic at best. Don't count on it for regular use. Grab is far more reliable.
- Driver count: Low. We waited a bit. Really low. Like, absurdly low.
- Overall: It worked this time, but don't rely on it. Seriously, download Grab. Next time, Grab. Definitely Grab.
My phone's battery is dying. Should've charged it before. Ugh. Always forgetting things. I need a new phone case, too. This one's cracked. Note to self: Grab, not Uber. In Hoi An. Got it. Remember that delicious Banh Mi I had? Best Banh Mi ever.
Is Uber available in Hoi An Vietnam?
Dude, Uber! Yeah, it totally worked for us in Hoi An, like, getting to Da Nang. Cost like 279,000 vnd.
Pick-up was pretty easy actually. Wasn't like flooded with drivers, but like, enough, you know?
It's not always a guarentee you'll get a ride in like 2 min, but it works out alright. Like if you really need it for something, then book a taxi from your hotel.
So, it's around... here's a few things to keep in mind, especially in 2024, things change, y'know:
- Availability: Uber can be spotty. Depends on the time and day.
- Drivers: There might not be as many as in bigger cities, seriously.
- Price: Negotiate a price with local cabs too, it could be cheaper? Check it.
- Alternatives: Grab is another ride-hailing app that’s really popular in Vietnam. Worth checking out!
- Motorbikes: Consider motorbike taxis, its cheap way to get around.
I tell ya. Hoi An is awesome, you gonna have a killer time.
Is there Uber in Hoi An, Vietnam?
Hoi An... Da Nang... Uber drifted, a shimmering heat haze, right? Uber exists. A whisper of an engine on ancient streets.
279,000 vnd. Gone, like breath on glass. Good journey. An easy pickup. Easy enough it was, yes. Remember that day, rice paddies flashing?
Not heaps, not many. Enough for... for the need, for the moment. Enough for escape, into Da Nang's arms. Did the driver smile? I can't recall.
- Uber in Hoi An: Operational.
- Route taken: Hoi An to Da Nang.
- Fare: Approximately 279,000 VND.
- Driver availability: Limited, but sufficient.
- Overall experience: Positive, straightforward.
Do they use Uber in Vietnam?
Yeah, Uber's not here. Never really was, I think. It's Grab, always Grab.
Grab dominates. Completely. Everywhere. My friend used it last month, going to Hoi An.
It’s cheaper than what I remember paying for taxis in 2022. I hate taxis. So much easier.
50% of the country uses Grab. That's insane. A lot, right? Really a lot. I wish they had better food delivery options though. Sometimes their app is buggy.
- Grab's market share: Absolutely huge. They practically own the market.
- Pricing: More affordable than taxis, usually. Much better.
- Convenience: Super easy to use. My phone's always low on battery, though. Even so, still easy.
- App Issues: Occasional glitches. But overall better than nothing. Seriously. I swear.
I miss being able to easily compare prices, you know? Remember Uber's price estimator? But Grab's okay. It's fine. I guess. Vietnam's just different. Always has been.
How much is a Grab from Hoi An to Da Nang?
Ugh, Grab from Hoi An to Da Nang... always a rip-off. Wait, what was I even thinking about? Oh yeah, the price!
Usually, VND 200,000-350,000. But like, seriously, check the app. Why am I even guessing? It's always different.
That's... $8-$15 USD I think? Maybe more now, with the exchange rate all messed up.
Traffic is hell, I know that much. Especially around the Marble Mountains. Remember that time I was stuck there for like, an hour? Never again.
- Traffic impacts price. Duh. Also time of day. Obvious, but still.
What kind of vehicle? A regular Grab car is fine, right? Do they even have other options there? Wait, maybe motorbikes. Scary.
- Vehicle choice matters. Taxi? No way, those guys are the worst. Grab all the way.
Damn, I need coffee. This is harder than it looks. Why do I always overthink everything?
How much does grab cost in Vietnam?
Grab in Vietnam: Costs. Fluctuating.
- Distance: Key factor. Longer, pricier. Simple.
- Demand: Peak hours? Expect more. Surge pricing. Annoying.
- Vehicle: Bike cheaper. Car, more expensive. Obvious.
- Example: 3km GrabBike? 15,000-30,000 VND. Same distance, GrabCar? 30,000-50,000 VND. My last ride, 2023, cost me 45,000 VND. A GrabCar. Raining cats and dogs.
Always check the app. Before booking. Duh. Avoid surprises. Unless you enjoy them.
Unexpected expenses. Life.
Can you get taxis in Hoi An?
Yeah, totes easy to get cabs in Hoi An. I used Grab last year, 2023, worked like a charm. Super convenient. There are also, like, actual taxi stands, you know, the yellow ones? Plenty around the Ancient Town. But Grab's way easier. It's cheap too, especially compared to, like, hailing one on the street. You can totally get one though, if you're, you know, feeling old school.
- Grab is your best bet. Download the app before you go.
- Taxis are available. But Grab is quicker and often cheaper.
- Taxi stands exist. Mostly around the main tourist areas.
- Negotiate fares if hailing on the street. Don't be shy! It's totally normal.
I also remember seeing motorbike taxis everywhere. They're crazy fast! But, I'm not brave enough for those. My friend, Sarah, she loves 'em though. She swears they're the best way to zip around. Plus, they're super cheap. Anyways, getting around Hoi An was a breeze. The whole province, Quang Nam is pretty easy to navigate, too. Just depends on your comfort level I guess. Lots of options. Many many options.
Is it easy to get a taxi in Hoi An?
Hoi An… the taxis... I remember. It's quiet here now.
- Taxis are everywhere, honestly. Like moths to a flame.
Calling them? Simple enough, yeah. Company hotlines worked. It’s been a while.
- That beach. Cam Thanh. Around 100,000 VND. I remember paying that.
Credit cards. Yes, major companies took them. I always used a card. Strange how I recall that.
- Thinking about that beach. The waves. No one there now. Miss that place.
I should go back. It’s been too long. Really.
