How can I get my phone to work in another country?

Ugh, tell me about it! Getting your phone to work abroad can be such a headache! I remember that time I was in Italy, thinking my international plan was all sorted, and bam! Huge bill when I got home. Never again. Seriously, those things are a highway robbery.

So, the best thing, honestly? A local SIM card. Hands down. It's usually dirt cheap, and you get loads of data. Like, when I was in Thailand, I got a SIM card with something ridiculous like 20 gigs for, like, $10? It was insane! Way better than those rip-off international roaming charges.

I know some people swear by those international add-ons your carrier offers, but I'm always suspicious. They seem so… sneaky. And then you're constantly checking your usage, stressed about going over. No thanks!

There's also the whole Wi-Fi with airplane mode thing, which, yeah, it works… kinda. But what happens when you need to call a taxi?
