How to Claim a Refund on a Ticket

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is the official e-ticketing website of the Indian Railways. It allows users to book train tickets online. In case of cancellation of a train ticket, IRCTC provides a facility to claim a refund.

Steps to Claim Refund on IRCTC Ticket:

1. File a Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR):

   • Visit the IRCTC website: https://www.irctc.co.in
   • Log in to your IRCTC account.
   • Go to “My Transactions” section.
   • Select the “File TDR” option.

2. Select Ticket Details:

   • Choose the ticket you want to cancel from the list.
   • Enter the reason for cancellation.
   • You can opt for either a full refund or a partial refund.

3. Submit Claim:

   • Click on the “Submit” button.
   • IRCTC will generate a TDR number.
   • The TDR claim will be submitted to the relevant railway authorities for processing.

4. Refund Processing:

   • Upon successful processing of the TDR, the refund amount will be automatically credited back to the original payment method used for booking the ticket.
   • The refund process typically takes 2-3 business days.

Note:

• The cancellation charges and refund rules may vary depending on the class of travel and the fare type.
• For certain types of tickets, refunds may not be available.
• It is recommended to file a TDR as early as possible to maximize the chances of getting a refund.
