Oh, hey, so you wanna know the airport near Ninh Van Bay? It’s Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR). Yeah, it’s uh, like, the closest.

Sixty km, or 37 miles-ish…south, I think. Getting there, though… that’s an adventure.

Driving takes maybe, 1.5 to 2 hours. Can be kinda long, especially if traffic’s bad or you stop for coffee.

But, listen to this. Some resorts, like, fancy ones, offer speedboats. Whoa. That cuts the travel time down to only 30 or 40 minutes.

I was there, in Nha Trang, it was amazing, last month. My cousin Trung showed me around. He’s a local!

Things to Consider When Planning Your Trip:

• Speedboats: Definitely worth the splurge.
• Traffic: Can be a real pain on the main roads.

Ugh, 43km! That’s a hike. I hate driving directions apps. Always underestimating traffic. Should I take the ĐCT Láng – Hòa Lạc/CT03? Hope it’s not clogged. Road construction is always a nightmare. Maybe I should check Google Maps again. Seriously though, a 59-minute drive sounds perfect. Just enough time to finish that podcast. Or is it? What about gas prices? Gas prices are killing me lately!

I prefer this route to those winding mountain roads near Ba Vì. Hate those hairpin turns. Gives me motion sickness. This route is much better. Hopefully, no crazy drivers! Ninh Van Bay? Think hidden gem, not tourist trap. It’s tucked away on Vietnam’s south-central coast, specifically the Hon Meo Peninsula in Khanh Hoa Province. Picture this: a secret cove, less a bay and more a shy, blushing sea-maiden.

Seriously though, Khanh Hoa Province. Remember that name. You’ll be dropping it in conversations like you’re a seasoned Southeast Asia explorer, even if your farthest travels involve your local grocery store. It’s that impressive.

• Location: Hon Meo Peninsula, Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam.
• Vibe: Secluded, luxurious (often), picturesque (always). Think less crowded beach, more private paradise. Unlike Nha Trang, which is bustling and maybe a little too much like a party you didn’t want to go to.
• Getting there: Requires some effort, adding to its mystique. It’s not exactly a hop, skip, and a jump from anywhere. That’s part of its charm, though, isn’t it? Like finding a really good vintage record in a dusty old shop.

Ninh Van Bay. It’s a secret cradled by stone. I know it is.

• Location: Hon Meo Peninsula, Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam.
• Position: Northeast of Nha Trang. Like a forgotten promise, a silent wish.
• Nature: Clear water. Beaches. Rocks rising sharp, strong, forever. This year, forever.

The rocks know secrets, don’t they? Do I know the secrets? No. Not yet.

How do I get from Hoi An to Ninh Van Bay?

Hoi An to Ninh Van Bay? Ugh, such a trek. No straight shot, sadly. Gotta go through Nha Trang. Took me, like, forever to figure that out last year when I went with my sister, Carol. We took the train to Nha Trang –sleeper car, surprisingly comfy. Then, things got… interesting.

• Train to Nha Trang: Not a bad option, like I said. Sleeper is the way to go if you wanna sleep lol. Scenery? Meh. Bring a book.
• Fly to Nha Trang: Faster, obvi. Expensive though. Cam Ranh International (CXR) is the closest airport – remember that! Almost messed up and booked to the wrong one. Dumb.
• Bus to Nha Trang: Cheapest, for sure, but also the longest. We considered it on the way back, but nope. Too much time wasted, we wanted to get back to shopping in Hoi An asap. Like those silk lanterns!

Anyway, once you’re in Nha Trang – which is kinda…touristy, lots of Russians? – you gotta get to the actual bay. Ninh Van Bay. That’s a whole other thing.

• Resort Transfer: Just ask the resort! They’ll sort you out. Usually, its car to a pier, then a boat. Ours was this super fancy speedboat – took like 20 minutes. Worth it. So nice.
• DIY Transfer: Taxi to a pier, then negotiate a boat. Doable, but more of a hassle. The resort option is just easier, unless you’re really on a budget, i guess.

We stayed at this ah-mazing place, Six Senses, right on Ninh Van Bay. Totally isolated. Private beach. Like, heaven. So. Worth. The. Trip. You’ll need a boat no matter what, ’cause it’s all peninsulas and stuff. Seriously beautiful. Totally reccomend, especially if you’re, like, honeymooning or something. Or just want to get away from the craziness of Nha Trang. Good luck!
