Da Nang Airport to City: Whats the best transportation option?

Ugh, Da Nang airport transfer? So confusing! My last trip, June 12th, I wrestled with this. Grab app was glitchy, a total mess.

Ended up with a Mai Linh taxi. Cost? Around 250,000 VND. It was okay, nothing special.

Next time, I’m trying the airport shuttle bus. Heard it’s cheap and reliable. Cheaper than the taxi for sure.

VinaSun and others… they’re out there. I just didn’t use them. Maybe next time. For now, my vote’s with the bus. Cheaper than Mai Linh Taxi.

How do I go to Da Nang City from the airport?

Okay, Da Nang airport to the city… hmm. Taxi is probably easiest. I ALWAYS take a taxi when I land, ugh.

  • Mai Linh – 0511.3.56.56.
  • VinaSun Green – 0511.3.68.68. Always see those.
  • Han River Taxi – 0511.3.72.72.
  • Tien Sa – 0511.3.79.79.
  • XANH SM – 19002088 (electric cars, right?)

Or Grab, duh. Everyone uses Grab now. Cheaper, maybe. The numbers tho, good to have just in case phone dies, ugh, happened last time I was there. Remember when I lost my phone charger? That was a disaster.

How early should I arrive at Danang airport?

Two hours. Domestic. Three hours. International. Simple.

Airport security lines fluctuate. My last trip, Da Nang. Domestic flight. Forty minutes. Plenty of time. International? Different story.

  • Consider traffic. Rush hour. Nightmare.
  • Check-in kiosks. Efficient. Sometimes not.
  • Unexpected delays happen. Life.

Arrive early. Avoid stress. A universal truth. Or, a personal preference. Depending on your risk tolerance. My tolerance is low.

Pro Tip: Download the airport app. Real-time updates. Less anxiety. More control.

My flight last year, VN256. Delayed. Annoying. But, I was early. Therefore, not catastrophic. The lesson? Always early. Better safe.

Rule of thumb: Three hours. Always. Unless domestic, and you are fearless.

How do I get to Hoi An from the airport?

Okay, so, Hoi An from the airport… ugh.

Last October, yeah, October 2023, Da Nang airport. Hot. Sweltering. I needed Hoi An, stat! I was so tired.

Taxi to the Central Bus Station, right? Annoying, but fine. The driver tried to rip me off, obviously. Had to haggle, sigh.

Then, bus #1. Local bus, packed like sardines! Sweaty people everywhere. The smell! Lord.

It took forever, felt like three hours, not just one! Nguyen Tat Thanh Bus Station finally. Dusty. Hotter. I think.

Here’s the breakdown, more or less:

  • Taxi: Airport to Central Bus Station (Da Nang). Cost me, like, 150,000 VND after arguing? Should be less.

  • Bus #1: Central Bus Station to Hoi An bus station. Super cheap. Maybe 20,000 VND? Don’t quote me.

  • Frequency: Supposedly every 20 mins. Yeah, right. More like when it’s full, then it goes.

  • Travel Time: They said 1-1.5 hours. Liars! More like, I dunno, felt like forever with the traffic.

  • Destination: Hoi An Nguyen Tat Thanh Bus Station. Then you gotta get another taxi to your hotel, naturally.

Ugh, never again. Next time? Private car. Worth every penny. My sanity, right? I mean, seriously.

Is there bus from Da Nang Airport to Hoi An?

Dark outside. Thinking about travel again. Da Nang… Hoi An… yeah, there’s a bus. Number one.

Orange. Or yellow. Always seems to take forever though. Hour and a half maybe. More?

Thirty… fifty thousand dong. Not much, really. But still. Just sitting there.

Airport’s small. Find the stop easy enough. Right outside.

Could just get a car. Faster, of course. Costs more. Always costs more. Sigh.

  • Bus Route: Number 1
  • Operated by: Da Nang Public Transport
  • Color: Orange or Yellow
  • Travel time: 70-80 minutes
  • Cost: 30,000-50,000 VND
  • Location: Outside Da Nang Airport (DAD) terminal
  • Alternatives: Private car, Taxi (more expensive)

Remember that trip in ’21… Rain. Whole time rain. Sat on that bus… Soaked.

Soaked through. Lost my favorite hat. Stupid hat. Still…

Maybe I should just fly directly into Hoi An next time… if that’s even… possible.
