Hour and twenty, Hanoi to Da Nang. Easy peasy. Did that trip back in, uh, June. Took like, no time at all. Was watching some dumb movie on my phone, ran out of battery, still had, like, 20 minutes left on the flight. Annoying. Remember they served some kinda weird juice…cranberry…no, maybe guava? Whatever. Slept most of the way back tho. Was exhausted. Had spent the whole week running around Hoi An, checking out the tailors, getting clothes made…good times.

• Airline: I don’t even remmber lol. Some budget one.
• Entertainment: Downloaded movies (bring a power bank!)
• In-flight service: Juice (not sure what kind, haha)

This year, btw, Da Nang beaches are suuuuper crowded. Next time thinking about Phu Quoc…heard it’s more chill, less packed. My friend, Mark—the one with the crazy beard—he went last month, said it’s amazing. Might go next spring. Gotta book flights early tho. Prices jump like crazy. Especially during Tet. Should prob start looking…like, now. Oh, and I forgot to mention, the airport in Da Nang is tiny! So easy to navigate. Unlike Hanoi…that place is a zoo.

How far is Da Nang from Hanoi by train?

It’s about 791 kilometers give or take a temple or two. Think of it as roughly the same distance as regretting that third spring roll.

• Scenic? Sure. Affordable? Absolutely. Will you question your life choices at hour 12? Odds are, yes. Hey, at least the wifi better be better.

Is Da Nang cheaper than Hanoi?

Man, Da Nang was way cheaper than Hanoi. Seriously. I was there in June 2024. Hanoi? Whoa, that place was expensive. Like, ridiculously expensive.

Accommodation in Da Nang? A steal. I scored a beachfront bungalow for practically nothing. Hanoi? Forget it. I paid double for a cramped, noisy hotel room. Total rip-off.

Food, same deal. Fresh seafood in Da Nang was amazing, and affordable. Amazing. Think of it this way: I ate like a king in Da Nang for the price of a decent meal in Hanoi. Hanoi’s street food was good, but pricey, especially around the Old Quarter. Tourist trap.

Here’s the breakdown:

• Da Nang: Cheaper accommodation. Delicious, cheap seafood. Loads of great local eateries.
• Hanoi: Expensive hotels, even basic ones. Street food is good but expensive in tourist areas. Tourist scams abound.

My trip was in June 2024. I spent, uh, let me see… way less in Da Nang, definitely. Like, at least 50% less for a similar quality of life. It wasn’t even close. Da Nang is a winner for budget travelers. Seriously. Hanoi’s a lovely city, don’t get me wrong, but bring a fatter wallet.

Should I visit Da Nang or Hanoi?

Da Nang. Beach. Sun. Good. Hanoi… busy. Traffic. Crazy. But food… street food… amazing. Ugh. Decisions. Da Nang closer to Hoi An. Love the lanterns. Tailors too. Cheap clothes. Need new… everything. Wardrobe refresh. Da Nang… more chill. Modern. Like that. Hanoi… culture… history… hmm. Weekend trips… yeah Da Nang wins for that. Hue… imperial city… So much history. Overwhelming maybe. Beaches… definitely Da Nang. Relax. Sunbathe. Swim. Okay, Da Nang it is. Maybe visit Hanoi another time.

My trip last year… Phu Quoc. Amazing beaches. So quiet. Different vibe. Da Nang… more city. More to do. This year… definitely Da Nang. Booked flight for October 2024. Going with my sister, Anya. She loves beaches. Should book hotel soon. Maybe near the beach. Easy access. Good for photos. Instagram worthy.

Must try banh xeo in Da Nang. Heard it’s great there. Also… seafood. Fresh. Cheap. Anya will love it. So… Da Nang… October 2024. Done. Excited.

Why do people go to Da Nang?

Beaches. Sun. Good grief, the heat. Da Nang. Remember that street food stall… the one with the… what was it? Banh Xeo? Amazing. Cheap too. Think I spent like… five bucks? Crazy. Definitely going back. Transportation was easy. Grab bikes everywhere. So convenient. The Marble Mountains. Touristy, yeah, but worth it. The view. Wow. Clean streets too. Unlike Hanoi. Ugh. So different. The Han River. Those bridges. Dragon Bridge… breathes fire! Seriously. Saw it myself. Locals are nice. Helpful. Smiling. Definitely a vibe. Should learn some Vietnamese. Xin chao. That’s hello, right? Gonna book another trip. Maybe November? Cooler then. Less crowded. Dragon Bridge. So cool. Must see it again. My Tho. Also nice. But Da Nang… different. Better. Why? Dunno. Just is. The beaches. Yeah, the beaches.
