HS2 trains will reach 360 km/h (220 mph) on the dedicated HS2 track. While the lines length has changed, this speed remains the design target for the London to Manchester leg on the new high-speed section.

Okay, so, how fast will HS2 actually be from London to Manchester? That’s the question, isn’t it? Well, the plan is for the trains to zoom along at a whopping 360 kilometers per hour! That’s like, 220 miles per hour! Can you even imagine going that fast on a train? I remember once I was on a train that felt like it was going super fast, and it turned out it was only like, 80 mph. 220 is a whole other level!

Now, I know there’s been a lot of chopping and changing with the HS2 route – honestly, who can keep up? – but as far as I understand, that target speed, that 220 mph, is still the goal for the new high-speed bits between London and Manchester. Whether they actually achieve it…well, that’s another question, isn’t it? I mean, things rarely go exactly to plan, do they? Still, fingers crossed it’ll be a nice, speedy ride!
