I took that ride on like, 12 July a few years back. It was supposed to be around 15-16 hours...ish.

Seriously, tho, expect a chunk of your day (and night!) gone. Things happen, delays sneak up. I think it took me even longer because of some stuff, you know.

The train speed varies, like duh. Plus, the number of stops really adds up. Don't go if you're in a rush, that's for sure! I wasn't in too hurry tho. I remember thinking 200,000 LAK was a fair price, maybe I'm just bad with money...

Still, awesome views. Worth it, I'd say, if you can chill and enjoy the ride, little hiccups and all. It's like 30$ USD at today's currency rate.
