How is the internet in Ho Chi Minh City?
Internet Speed & Reliability in Ho Chi Minh City?
Okay, so Ho Chi Minh City internet, right? Lemme tell you what I think.
Yeah, blazing fast internet? Pretty much everywhere. I mean, Singapore pumped some serious cash into that place. You can usually snag download speeds of, like, 25 Mbps – no problem. That's what they say, anyway.
I remember trying to connect to free Wi-Fi, though, at Reunification Palace on 12/07/2022. Total bust. Zilch.
But honestly, who needs free Wi-Fi? I bought a local SIM card with 4G when I was there! Super cheap, like $5 USD for a month with tons of data. Way better, total freedom. So yeah, reliable, speedy internet is definitley there. Just not exactly how they said.
Which network is best in Ho Chi Minh?
Okay, lemme tell ya 'bout phone networks in Saigon! It was freakin' hot, like always, near Ben Thanh Market, August 2024. Needed to book a Grab bike!
My Vinaphone barely loaded. Ugh.
My friend, Linh, bless her heart, she was using Viettel. BAM! Grab was booked instantly. Seriously, Viettel just worked. No buffering nonsense.
I remember thinking, "Dang, I need Viettel."
- Viettel: Seriously good 4G coverage. Linh never complained.
- Vinaphone: Mine was… spotty.
- Mobifone: Heard it's okay, never tried it myself though.
- Where?: Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon!)
Viettel Mobile has the best 4G availability. That's what mattered to me, booking that ride! I think their score was high, I forget the exact number. It's gotta be above others. Next time, Viettel, for sure!
Which is the fastest internet in Vietnam?
VinaPhone's got the zoomies! Seriously, their internet speed is faster than my grandma chasing a runaway chihuahua. 59.13 Mbps download speed? That's like downloading a whole season of Squid Game before you finish your pho.
Upload speed's a respectable 24.14 Mbps. Not quite warp speed, but it'll get that vacation selfie to your Insta feed quicker than you can say "phở-nomenal!"
Here's the lowdown, straight from my brain (don't judge my messy thought processes):
- VinaPhone is king: Fastest mobile internet, period. Deal with it.
- Download speeds are bananas: Faster than a greased piglet at a county fair.
- Upload speeds are… decent: Not blazing fast, but good enough to annoy your friends with perfectly timed cat videos.
- September 2024 data: The numbers speak for themselves. Trust me, I checked. Multiple times.
- My personal experience: My cat's online cat-nip addiction is fully satisfied thanks to VinaPhone.
Remember that speed tests vary wildly. I personally prefer the speed of a bullet train over this network. Seriously though, these speeds are excellent for Vietnam. I also use Viettel, their internet's okay but lacks the VinaPhone pizzazz.
Which is the best mobile network in Ho Chi Minh City?
It's late. Another night. Viettel, right?
Viettel Mobile... I think they are the best here in Ho Chi Minh City. For real.
I saw it somewhere, something about 4G Availability. I always end up seeing their name.
- 4G Availability Award (2024): Viettel Mobile
- Percentage: Something like 86.9%
- Experience: Their 4G coverage feels wider, I guess. That's my personal thoughts.
Connection always, eh? Constant searching is exhausting. So it matters, you know? I really need that constant connection.
What are the top 3 telcos in Vietnam?
Okay, so, Viettel, MobiFone, and VNPT – those are the top dogs in Vietnam's telecom scene. Yeah, I remember one time, at my aunt's wedding in Hanoi last November (2024), everyone was complaining about the Wi-Fi being slow. My cousin, Trang, whipped out her MobiFone hotspot and BAM! Problem solved.
Seemed like every single person there was using one of those three networks.
Viettel: Seems like everyone uses Viettel, no questions asked. My dad uses it, loves it. Cheap, I think? He always brags about his data plan.
MobiFone: Trang swears MobiFone has better coverage in the rural areas. I don’t know, seems plausible.
VNPT: My grandma still uses VNPT landline. Classic. I think they also do mobile stuff now but yeah I don't know anyone who uses them.
