Dark outside. Streetlights casting shadows. Thinking about shipping. FedEx… yeah, they’re okay. Reliable, I guess. Used them to send… a gift. To my sister. In London. Last year. Tracked it the whole way. That was good. Peace of mind, you know?

But expensive. Really hit the wallet. Ouch. Remember looking at DHL too. More options, maybe. Didn’t use them though.

• Reliable tracking: Watched that little icon move across the map. Like a tiny beacon of hope. Silly, I know.
• Insurance: Important. Especially for something… sentimental.
• In-person service: Had to drop it off. Bit of a hassle. But better than… nothing?
• Weekend delivery: Sister got it on a Saturday. Surprised her.

Downsides… the cost. Definitely the cost. And… fewer locations? Maybe. Not sure. Just remember DHL seemed… bigger, somehow. More global. Pick-up fees too. FedEx. Sometimes. Sneaky.

London… haven’t seen her in years. Maybe I should… send another gift.

How long does Vietnam customs take?

It took forever, man. Twenty minutes? Hah. More like an hour. My flight from Hanoi landed at 2 am. The line was insane.

The visa on arrival was a nightmare. Cash only. They were so slow. My wallet felt heavier, lighter, emptier all at once.

I remember that fluorescent lighting, the stale air. The endless shuffling feet. Each step felt like lead.

Expect delays. Especially now, in 2024. It’s always busy. The whole thing felt soul-crushing. I was exhausted. Really exhausted.

• Crowds: Late-night flights are brutal. The worst.
• Patience: You’ll need it. Lots and lots of it. More than you think.

Seriously, underestimate this at your peril. It sucked. It truly did. I just…I wanted to be home. The whole experience felt suffocating. It felt like I was drowning in red tape and exhaustion. The sheer monotony of it all.

Ugh, Vietnam to the US… how long is that torture? Like 16 hours and 20 minutes? On Vietnam Airlines.

Wait, really? Vietnam Airlines is the only one with direct flights? Huh.

Seventeen hours… almost a whole day just sitting. I took a 12-hour flight to Munich in 2023, and I felt like a zombie. Need to prep myself. What do people DO?

Track a package outta the country? Duh. Like a bloodhound with a waffle cone. They slap a number on it, a digital leash. Big Brother knows where your socks are. Globally.

• Tracking number: It’s like the package’s passport. Without it, it’s a nomad.
• Carriers: Most play the tracking game. Some better than others. Think Ferrari vs. a rusty tricycle. My neighbor, bless her heart, once shipped a gnome to Slovakia. Tracked it every step of the way.
• Worldwide: Yup, from Antarctica (penguin sweaters, probably) to Zimbabwe. My cousin shipped a banjo there once. Never saw it again. Tracking ended somewhere near a suspiciously banjo-shaped lake.

My Great Aunt Mildred, she sent a fruitcake to a nephew in Brazil. Tracked it all the way to customs. Then poof. Fruitcake black market, I tell ya. Wild stuff. She knitted him socks instead. Cheaper. Faster. Less chance of international intrigue.
