How long does a cruise ship vacation last?

Seven to ten days, usually. That's what they advertise, anyway. Though, I've heard of longer ones. Twelve days is pushing it, I think. Too long.

Fuel and supplies, that's the real limiter. Not some romantic notion of endless ocean. It's practical. Cold hard reality.

My last cruise? Five days, to Bermuda. Felt rushed. Never enough time. Always something I missed.

Things I wish I'd done differently:

• Spent less time gambling.
• More time on the deck, watching the waves.
• Talked to more strangers.

It’s the small things, you know? The quiet moments. Those really matter, I think. The memory fades, but the feeling... the feeling lingers. A strange, bittersweet ache.

How long do cruise ship trips last?

Seven days, that's what my last cruise lasted. It was in 2024, the Caribbean. Royal Caribbean, Serenade of the Seas. Man, I was so hyped. Really needed that break. Work had been brutal.

The whole thing felt like a blur of sun, swimming, and surprisingly good food. Way better than I expected! So much buffets. My stomach still hurts thinking about it.

Honestly, the sea days were the best. Just relaxing by the pool. Reading. So peaceful. But the ports of call were awesome too. I mean, St. Thomas was gorgeous.

The only bad part? Seasickness. Hit me hard on the second day. Ugh. Ruined a couple of excursions. Still, the other stuff was worth it. It was a very short vacation. Wish it could have been longer.

Things I remember:

• The ridiculously good chocolate mousse.
• The sunset from the top deck.
• That awful seasickness.
• Meeting a family from Canada – super nice people.
• The ridiculously overpriced drinks. Seriously, they were highway robbery!

Short cruises, like mine, are common. Some go longer, two weeks even, I've heard. But a week is perfect for a quick getaway. Definitely worth doing again. Maybe next time, I'll pick a different cruise line though. I've heard good things about Princess Cruises. Maybe next year.
