Traveling with Netflix: How Long and How to Keep Access

Netflix, the popular streaming service, allows you to enjoy your favorite movies and TV shows on the go. However, there are limitations to how long you can travel and continue accessing Netflix.

Standard Travel Mode

For short-term travel, Netflix offers a standard travel mode. This mode allows you to access Netflix from anywhere for a period of up to 30 days without signing out of your home devices. After 30 days, you’ll be prompted to sign back in from your home location.

Extended Travel Mode

If you plan to travel for more than 30 days, you can activate Netflix’s extended travel mode. This mode allows you to continue accessing Netflix for an extended period of time.

How to Activate Extended Travel Mode

To activate extended travel mode, follow these steps:

  1. Sign into your Netflix account on a computer or mobile device.
  2. Go to “Help Center” at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Search for “Extended travel mode.”
  4. Click on the “Activate extended travel mode” button.

Note: You can only activate extended travel mode once per year.

Alternatives for Long-Term Travel

If you plan to travel for extended periods, you may want to consider the following alternatives to extended travel mode:

  • Add a guest to your account: You can add a guest to your Netflix account and give them access to your profile. This allows you to watch Netflix from different locations without logging out of your home devices.
  • Use a VPN: A VPN can mask your location and make it appear as if you are accessing Netflix from your home country. However, using a VPN may violate Netflix’s terms of service.

Home Device Logout

It’s important to note that when you activate extended travel mode, your home devices may automatically log out of Netflix. To avoid this, you can disable the “Automatically sign out of devices” setting in your account settings.
