How many days to spend in Hue, Vietnam? Trip length?

Ugh, Hue... Three days felt just right for me, back in March 2023. Cramming more in would've been a mad dash.

Seriously, that first day exploring the Citadel and Imperial City? Took the entire morning, easily. I remember being completely wiped by lunchtime. Needed pho, stat.

Lunch cost about 50,000 dong, delicious. The rest of the day? Relaxing, needed it.

Honestly? Three days is plenty to get a good feel for Hue's vibe, you know? Not rushed. But longer would be even better.

Is it worth it to go to Hue?

Hue, huh? Is it worth going? Okay, palaces...temples...pagodas. Like, another SE Asian temple run, right? Seen a few of those, tbh.

But wait, ancient capital! Vietnam's royal past. That sounds a bit different. My friend Jen went last year, said something about the Perfume River. Worth a look?

  • Jen's pics looked kinda cool.
  • History!
  • Need good pho tho.

Plus, gotta find a tailor. New summer clothes are needed for all the summer travels. Is tailoring good in Hue? Hmmm.

Okay, maybe worth it. A unique experience in Vietnam is what I’m after. Defo check for good pho.

Oh, Hue is in central Vietnam. Was the capital during the Nguyen Dynasty. Now part of central Vietnam. The Imperial City is like, the attraction. UNESCO site, I think. Heard about that. The mausoleums of the emperors are out there. Also temples, palaces.

  • Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945)
  • Imperial City is the must-see
  • Mausoleums, temples, palaces are there
  • Central Vietnam

Jen also said to try the local beer. And something about dragon boats on the Perfume River. Defo check out that!
