Consider a longtail boat. Negotiate hard. Or don’t. Your choice.

Skip Ao Nang if crowds repel. Find solace elsewhere.

Krabi isn’t a playground. It’s a challenge.

How long should you stay in Krabi?

Krabi demands a week. Minimum. Railay, two nights. Ao Nang, another two. Phi Phi, mandatory two. Inland Krabi, deserves one full day. That’s seven. Don’t skimp.

• Railay: Rock climbing. Kayaking. Beach bumming. Two nights, barely enough.
• Ao Nang: Bustling. Gateway to islands. Consider longtail boat to hidden beaches. Two nights.
• Koh Phi Phi: Maya Bay. Snorkeling. Diving. Partying. Ferry essential. Two nights, at least.
• Inland Krabi: Tiger Cave Temple. Emerald Pool. Hot Springs. Khao Sok National Park. Hire a driver. One day, rushed. Extend trip, two better. My last trip, May 2024, Emerald Pool crowded. Worth it.

Skip the 4-island tour, tourist trap. Waste of a precious Krabi day. Instead, explore. Discover. Get lost.

Is Krabi nicer than Phuket?

Krabi, Phuket… Totally different vibes, you know? Phuket’s like, boom, city! Lots of stuff to do, eat. Always something going on. Went there with my sister, Sarah, last year–she loved the markets. Spent, like, a whole day at the Chillva Market. Me? I dunno. Kinda overwhelming.

Krabi? Way more my speed. Chill. Quiet-ish. Good for just, like, being. Remember that time we tried to learn to scuba dive? Shoulda gone to Krabi. Perfect for that sorta thing. Beaches are nicer, IMO. Railay Beach… woah. Phuket’s beaches are… packed. Too many people. And expensive! Krabi is def cheaper. Saved a ton of cash when I was there. Ate like a queen on, like, $20 a day.

• Phuket: Busy, lotsa stuff to do, pricier. Good for shopping, nightlife, markets like the Chillva one.
• Krabi: Relaxed, quieter, cheaper. Amazing beaches like Railay. Better for, like, scuba diving, chilling, nature stuff.

Went to Ao Nang in Krabi. Pretty touristy, but still way less crazy than Patong in Phuket. Phuket has that crazy Bangla Road… Sarah loved it, though. Different strokes, right? If you like to party, Phuket’s your place. If you wanna, like, read a book on the beach and just be? Krabi, all the way. This year I’m thinking about hitting up Koh Lanta. Heard it’s even more laid-back than Krabi… might drag Sarah along! She needs to chill, lol.

How many days are required in Krabi?

Three to five days works. Krabi’s surprisingly expansive. Think about what you want. Beaches? Inland adventures? A mix? It’s all good.

• Railay/Ao Nang: Two nights minimum. Four Islands trip is classic, but takes a chunk of a day. Rock climbing? Kayaking? Just chilling? Railay is pretty isolated, which is nice. Ao Nang is more hustle and bustle. My last trip, I stayed in Ao Nang, rented a scooter, and explored on my own. Totally worth it.

• Koh Phi Phi: Don’t rush it. Two nights. Maya Bay is iconic, sure. But, the island has way more to offer, if you take your time. Snorkeling, diving, and exploring. What’s the point of rushing? Found this great little coffee place tucked away near the pier… strong coffee, even stronger wifi.

• Inland Krabi: Tiger Cave Temple, Emerald Pool. Hot Springs. So much to see, easily a full day. Or two, if you really get into it. I’m always drawn to the more off-the-beaten-path stuff. It’s where you find the real Krabi. Rented a car once, drove around aimlessly. Best decision ever.

Consider adding a day or two. Krabi Town itself is kinda interesting. Night market, river tours. Not a must-see, but a good option if you’ve got the time. Last year, I went to Khao Sok National Park from Krabi. Amazing! Lake, jungle, wildlife. Stayed in a floating bungalow. That took three days though. Time…what even is it? Just a construct, man.

How many days are sufficient in Krabi?

Four days. Minimum.

Railay Beach: Two nights. Essential.

Ao Nang: One night. Optional. Island hopping included.

Inland Krabi: One day. Temples, viewpoints. Don’t miss Wat Tham Sua.

Koh Phi Phi: Overrated. Skip it entirely. Spend that time exploring Krabi town properly. Find hidden gems. This is better use of time.

• Prioritize. Krabi is expansive.
• Internal travel time is significant.
• Flights are expensive. Book in advance.

How many days do I need in Krabi?

Krabi? Hmm. At least 3-5 days, yeah. That feels right.

• Railay or Ao Nang. One or two nights? Day trip to the islands. 4-island tour, gotta do that. Is it worth it tho?

• Koh Phi Phi. Definitely two nights. Party time. Or not? Nah, maybe one.

• Inland Krabi…a full day? Temples, hot springs, emerald pool. So touristy now, ugh. I’ve been there, done that. Should I even bother?

• Longtail boats. So picturesque. Always get ripped off on the price. Grrr.

Okay, okay. So, like… Fly into Krabi airport (KBV), right? Then Ao Nang’s closest, a taxi will get you there quick.

• Ao Nang beach isn’t the best. Crowded. Railay is prettier, only accessible by boat. Worth the hassle? I think so.

• Koh Phi Phi is further, a ferry ride. The pier gets so crammed. Avoid it?

• Remember that time the monkey stole my sunglasses at Monkey Beach? Lol.

Hot springs… I went in 2023. Stinky but cool.

• Emerald pool is a must. Early morning is best, before all the people ruin it.

• Tiger Cave Temple… those stairs. My legs burned! Epic views, though.

I went to Krabi with Sarah in 2022, I think. It rained the whole time. Disaster! Hope for better weather this time.

Is 2 days enough for Krabi?

Two days in Krabi? Like trying to speed-read Tolstoy. You’ll see it, but will you feel it? Nah.

Three to five days is more like it. Think of it as Goldilocks and the porridge of Thai vacations. Too short, you’ll be hangry. Too long, you might turn into a banana pancake. This amount is just right.

• Beaches: Krabi’s beaches are like a box of chocolates, Forrest. Except, you know, all delicious. Railay, Phra Nang… Need I say more? Fine, I will. Ao Nang. Boom.
• Island hopping: Think James Bond, but with more longtail boats and fewer martinis (unless you pack your own shaker). Phi Phi, Hong Island… Island hopping requires time, darling.
• Rock climbing: Krabi’s cliffs? Nature’s jungle gym. Even if you’re more couch potato than Spider-Man, the views are worth the mild cardiac arrest.
• Tiger Cave Temple: 1,237 steps to enlightenment. Or heatstroke. Either way, a memorable experience. Pack water. And maybe a sherpa.
• Night market: Delicious street food. Questionable souvenirs. People-watching paradise. My personal record is three mango sticky rices in one sitting. Don’t judge.

Remember that time we almost missed our flight back from Phuket because we got lost in a durian orchard? Good times. Anyway, Krabi needs time. Don’t rush the magic.
