How many days should I spend in Ao Nang?
How many days in Ao Nang? Trip length for Krabi, Thailand?
Okay, so Ao Nang... how long should you stay? ????
Honestly, if the sun's shining, I'd say 2-3 days. I spent 3 days there back in March 2019 (flight was cheap from Kuala Lumpur - AirAsia FTW!), and it felt just right.
You can hit the beach. Maybe do some island hopping. Seriously, those longtail boats are so picturesque!
Plus, if you're feeling energetic, you could brave Tiger Cave Temple. That climb, though...whew. I almost died, haha.
Don't forget Phi Phi Don! It's further afield but worth at least a couple of nights. I stayed in a little bungalow near Long Beach back then, think it cost about 800 baht a night. Paradise.
Is Krabi Thailand expensive?
Krabi's cost of living is surprisingly manageable. $71 a day, on average, isn't outrageous, especially considering 2024's inflation rates. That puts it firmly in the mid-range for Asian destinations. Think Datong or Wuyuan – similar price points. This isn't backpacking-budget, but it's not breaking the bank either. Life is about balance, isn't it?
The affordability, however, depends heavily on your lifestyle. Splurging on luxury resorts obviously changes the equation significantly. Budget travelers, on the other hand, can easily stick to a lower daily budget. My friend, Sarah, managed on $40 a day last year, living quite comfortably.
Factors influencing Krabi's cost:
Accommodation: Budget guesthouses are plentiful, offering significant savings. Luxury resorts are costly.
Food: Street food is ridiculously cheap. Fine dining, conversely, can be quite pricey.
Activities: Many activities are reasonably priced, such as boat trips to nearby islands. However, some activities such as diving excursions, or luxury spa treatments can be expensive.
Transportation: Songthaews (shared taxis) are super affordable for getting around. Private taxis and car rentals are more costly.
Basically, Krabi offers flexibility. It caters to various budgets. You're in charge of your expenditure. You could easily spend less or more. It's entirely up to you, really. Doesn't that make for an interesting travel experience?
