How much does in-flight WiFi cost?

Ugh, in-flight WiFi, right? How much is that going to set me back? It's such a variable beast, isn't it? You kind of hope it'll be reasonable, but sometimes... ouch. Generally, I've seen it anywhere from $10 to $35 on domestic flights, sometimes even more if you're going overseas. I remember one flight to London – I think it was with British Airways, maybe? – the WiFi was ridiculously expensive. I ended up just reading a book, which, you know, what a concept!

Anyway, back to the pricing. It really just depends. Which airline you're flying, where you're headed... it's all a factor. I know American Airlines does a monthly subscription thing, which can be handy if you fly with them a lot. I think it's like $49.95 for one device and $59.95 if you want to connect two. Honestly, sometimes I wonder if it's even worth it, especially on shorter flights. Do you really need to be connected that badly? Sometimes I think it's nice to just unplug for a few hours, but then again… What if something important comes up? It's a tough call.
