How much is a taxi from Penn Station to Times Square?

Ugh, figuring out NYC taxi fares is always a headache, isn't it? So, Penn Station to Times Square... I remember once, I was so late for a Broadway show – a matinee, can you believe it? – and I just had to get a cab. It ended up costing me, like, ten bucks, maybe eleven? Something around there. It was a quick ride, though, probably closer to ten minutes than two, ha! Traffic can be brutal.

But honestly, for that distance? Taking the subway is way cheaper and often faster, if you're not loaded down with luggage. Eight to eleven dollars seems kind of steep, especially when you can just hop on the train from 34th Street-Penn Station to 42nd Street-Port Authority. It's super easy, you know? I've done it a million times. Much less stressful than dealing with cabbies and traffic. Though, I will admit, sometimes the subway is packed – like, sardines in a can packed – and that can be its own kind of torture. So, it depends on your priorities, I guess.
