Short-Term Stay in the Philippines: Your Guide to Visa on Arrival (SEVUA)
Planning a quick trip to the Philippines? The Visa on Arrival (SEVUA) might be your ticket! This convenient option allows eligible visitors to enter the country for a short-term stay without the hassle of obtaining a visa beforehand. Here's what you need to know:
What is SEVUA?
SEVUA, or Special Entry Visa Upon Arrival, grants temporary visitors the right to stay in the Philippines for a maximum of 30 days. It's a perfect solution for those looking to enjoy a quick vacation, attend short-term business meetings, or explore the beauty of the islands.
Who Qualifies for SEVUA?
Not everyone can apply for a SEVUA. Here are the general eligibility requirements:
- You must be a citizen of a country on the Philippines' list of eligible nationalities. This list can be found on the website of the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
- You must have a valid passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity.
- You must have a confirmed return ticket to your home country.
- You must have sufficient funds for your stay in the Philippines.
How Much Does It Cost?
The SEVUA fee is PHP 1,500.00, payable in Philippine Peso upon arrival at the airport.
Extending Your Stay
While SEVUA allows you to stay for up to 30 days, you can extend your stay for an additional 29 days if you wish. To do so, you must apply for an Extension of Stay (EOS) within 7 days before the expiration date of your SEVUA. The fee for EOS is PHP 5,010.00.
Important Notes:
- SEVUA is a single-entry visa. You cannot enter the Philippines again with the same SEVUA if you leave the country during your initial 30-day stay.
- You may be denied entry if you don't meet the requirements or if the BI has reason to believe you intend to overstay or engage in illegal activities.
