How much is the visa on arrival fee for Indians in Laos?
Ugh, Laos visas, right? Let me tell you, figuring out that whole thing was a nightmare! I'm still not entirely sure I got it right, to be honest. I was trying to plan a trip for my friend Priya and me – she’s the organized one, I’m… less so. Anyway, we needed to know the visa on arrival fee for Indians, and oh boy, was it confusing.
I saw prices everywhere, ranging from a seemingly reasonable $30 to a jaw-dropping $50! Fifty dollars?! That's a serious chunk of change, especially when you're already trying to balance flights, hostels (we stayed in some amazing ones, by the way, tiny little bamboo huts near Luang Prabang – I’ll tell you about them later!), and all the delicious street food. Seriously, the food in Laos is incredible! But I digress…
The thing is, it seemed totally random. Some websites said one thing, others completely contradicted them. I even saw some blogs talking about "additional fees" which, come on, who has time to deal with that level of mystery? It apparently depends on your length of stay – and I mean, how much are we talking? A week? A month? It all felt so vague, and different websites were giving totally different answers. It drove me absolutely bonkers! I even called the Laotian embassy, twice – once I even managed to speak to a human. But still no definitive answer.
So, yeah. Long story short, prepare for anywhere between $30 and $50. Pack some extra cash, just in case. You know, for those unexpected "additional fees." Or maybe extra sticky rice. That’s a much nicer thought.
