How much money should I bring in Vietnam?
How much money for Vietnam trip? Budget guide.
Okay, so Vietnam trip cost, huh? Tricky one. I went last June, spent about $40-$50 a day, backpacking style. That was roughing it, though. Think street food, mostly.
Local eateries are cheap, awesome, $5 a meal easily. Fancy Western stuff? Double, triple that price. Accommodation – hostels were around $10 a night, sometimes less.
Flights were the killer. Roundtrip from NYC, about $1200 (June 2023!). Ouch. But you could find cheaper if you book ahead, or fly from smaller airports.
Transportation in country varies wildly. Buses were super cheap, trains a bit more, and flights between cities added up quickly, of course. Always factor that in.
So, realistically? $50 a day is doable, if you're frugal. But add travel between cities and a long haul flight, and your total can easily reach $2000 or more, for a two week trip. It all depends on how you travel, really.
Is 500 dollars a lot in Vietnam?
Okay, 500 dollars in Vietnam... Hmm.
Wow, yeah, it's a lot, right? Like, a lot. Mom went to Hanoi last summer.
- She said everything was so cheap.
My rent is more than that, lol. But Vietnam...
- Covers months of living for some people, I bet.
- Motorbike! Remember Thanh's sweet ride? He said it wasn't too expensive.
Apartment down payment? Huh, wonder where? Definitely not Ho Chi Minh City, that's for sure.
- Maybe some smaller town.
- My grandpa lived in Da Nang. Quieter, I think. Cheaper maybe.
Definitely more than the average monthly income. People are paid so low? Wild!
- Or I spend too much on avocado toast. Hmm.
Maybe I should visit. But I'd miss my dog. Argh.
- Cost of living varies wildly: True that! Nha Trang is different from Sapa, isn't it?
- Motorbike cost: A decent used bike? Maybe $300-$800? Depends.
- Apartment down payment: Outside major cities, could be realistic. Rural areas, even cheaper.
- Average Income: Really depends on the job and location. Factory workers make less, naturally. Programmers in Saigon? More like $1000+ probably.
What is the average cost per day in Vietnam?
Vietnam. $30 to $50 a day, huh? Seems… low. But it figures.
It all depends. Depends on what you want, doesn't it?
- Hostels: Yeah, cheap. Under $10.
- Food: Street food is life. A few bucks. But I ate at fancier places, too. Splurged.
Transportation adds up. Buses? Trains? Flights? I flew a lot. Stupid, maybe.
- Activities: Ha Long Bay. Did that tour thing. Pricey. Worth it? I don't know anymore.
I stayed longer than I planned. Always do. Budget blown. Easily.
