Ugh, train travel, right? Trying to snag those seats can be a total nightmare sometimes. Remember that time I tried to book a last-minute trip to see my aunt? Total chaos! Anyway, checking for seats isn’t rocket science, thankfully. Here’s how I usually do it, and it’s pretty straightforward, I think.

First, you gotta go to the IRCTC website or app. I usually use the app because, let’s face it, who wants to mess around with a website on their phone when you’re trying to book tickets while, you know, doing other things?

Then, you just need to fill in all your trip info. Stations, date of travel – make sure that’s right, I’ve messed that up more times than I care to admit! – and what class you want to travel in. AC? Sleeper? Economy? I personally prefer sleeper class. It’s a bit more…cozy? I guess. Maybe it’s just me.

After that, you hit the “Check Availability” button. Seems simple enough, huh? But you’d be surprised how easy it is to accidentally tap the wrong thing when you’re stressed about booking tickets.

And boom! There it is, a list of trains and how many seats they have left. If you’re lucky, you’ll find something perfect, and you can go on your way. If not? Well, maybe try different dates or stations. Or pray to the travel gods. Seriously, I’ve had to resort to that a few times. Let me know if you have any tips, I’m always looking to improve my travel-booking skills!
