How to pay on a London bus?
Okay, so London buses. How confusing are they, right?! I swear, it took me ages to figure out the whole payment thing. You just tap your contactless card – or your phone if you've got it set up like I do – on that yellow thingy as you hop on. Easy peasy, you'd think. But then... the getting off part. Sometimes you tap, sometimes you don't! Trams, for example. Just tap on, and that's it. Why?! It makes no sense! I remember this one time, I was visiting my friend Sarah, and we took a tram after a day of shopping in Wimbledon. Out of habit, I tapped off, and Sarah just looked at me like I was crazy. "You don't need to do that!" she said. Felt so silly! And buses? Definitely tap off. Don't be like me that time I forgot and ended up paying for a whole journey across London when I only went two stops! Talk about a waste of money! Oh, and something kinda cool? You can pay for your friends too. Just tap twice – once for you, once for them. So helpful! Just, you know... make sure you actually have enough on your card before offering. Because that is a truly awkward situation. Believe me, I’ve been there. Standing there red-faced while the driver gives you that look. Not fun. So yeah, London buses. You'll get there eventually. Just... try not to make the same mistakes I did!
