In which country kiss is normal?
Kissing as a greeting isnt unique to France. Its common across many cultures, including:
- Various European countries
- Latin American countries
- Russia
- Some Arabic and Sub-Saharan African nations
The perception of its normalcy is highly dependent on cultural context.
Where’s kissing a normal greeting, you ask? Well, it’s definitely not just France, even though that’s what a lot of people think of, right? It’s actually surprisingly common in tons of places around the world! I mean, think about it… Europe, of course – places like Spain and Italy spring to mind. And then there’s Latin America – I remember seeing friends greet each other with kisses on the cheek when I was in Argentina, it was so natural and warm. Russia too! It’s not just a European thing. I was reading somewhere that it’s a custom in some Arabic and Sub-Saharan African countries as well, which I found really interesting. Makes you realize how different greetings can be.
So, is it “normal”? Well, that’s tricky. It totally depends on where you are and who you’re with. What’s perfectly acceptable in one culture could be super awkward in another. It’s all about that cultural context, isn’t it?
