Is 40 minutes enough time for a layover in Chicago with American Airlines?

Forty minutes in O'Hare?! Seriously? That's cutting it way too close for comfort. I'd be a wreck the entire time! I mean, theoretically, it could work, right? Suddenly, you're practically leaping over bewildered grandmas and dodging rogue luggage carts in a frantic dash across what feels like ten miles of airport terminal. Been there, done that, not fun. Remember that time Aunt Susan got stuck in Dallas because her connecting flight was in another terminal and she only had, like, 30 minutes? Nightmare. And O'Hare is even bigger than Dallas! Plus, you never know with weather delays – Chicago can get crazy. So, yeah, while it's technically a legal connection, honestly? No way. I'd much rather have a longer layover, grab a coffee, maybe browse those ridiculously overpriced airport shops.
