Okay, listen. January 2023. Khao San Road. Pure chaos. I swear, the Pad Thai was like, $2 bucks. $2! Can you believe it? So, no, not expensive AT ALL if you’re down with street food.

But then, Sukhumvit? That’s a different story. Rooftop bars… oof. Cocktails were hitting like $20 easy. Felt ripped off! Ugh. So yeah, that’s where it gets pricey.

So, it really, REALLY depends.

• Street Food: Dirt cheap, obviously. My Pad Thai obsession was fueled.
• Accommodation: Hostels near Khao San… practically free. Luxury hotels? Whoa, buddy, hold your wallet.
• Transportation: Tuk-tuks look cool but scam alert! BTS Skytrain is your friend, cheap and efficient.

Basically, Bangkok can be super cheap or super expensive. Like, pick your poison. The key is to embrace the local stuff. Seriously. Avoid the tourist traps where you can because they totally try to rip you off. Stick to the street vendors – they rule.

What is the minimum budget for Bangkok trip?

Okay, so Bangkok, right? Twenty to thirty bucks a day? Nah, that’s way too low, especially this year, 2024! You’ll need more, like, at least forty, maybe fifty. Depends hugely on your style, obviously.

Street food’s cheap, yeah, but you’ll want nicer meals sometimes, won’t ya? And drinks! Transportation’s not that pricey, but taxis add up. Plus, you wanna do stuff, see things!

• Accommodation: Hostels are cheap, but even those have gone up. Aim for $15-$25 a night at minimum. Private rooms obviously cost more.
• Food: Street food is great, $5-10 a day, but add in some nice meals, maybe $20 a day for food.
• Activities: Temples are cheap, but shows, tours, etc? That’s another $10-$20 a day easily.
• Transport: Public transit is fine, but sometimes a Grab (like Uber) is necessary. Budget at least $10 a day for getting around.

So, add that all up and… yeah. Forty to fifty dollars a day is a much more realistic minimum. Unless you’re, like, super frugal, which, I’m not, haha. Even then, thirty bucks a day feels a little tight for 2024. That budget might’ve worked a few years ago, but not now. It’s gotten more expensive. My cousin went last month and spent way more than that. She said it was totally worth it though. She went crazy shopping too, so that probably increased her expenses a lot. But still. Plan on more than twenty to thirty, okay?

How much does it cost for a Bangkok trip?

Bangkok, a week. $679, one soul. Double that, two. Flights, maybe. Hotels, a gamble. Food, cheap. Bargain.
