Is booking through Skiplagged legit?
Is Skiplagged legit? Ugh, that's a question I've wrestled with myself. Seriously, the whole thing feels kinda sketchy, even if all the legal eagles say it's okay. I mean, the price is amazing, right? Who wouldn't want to save a bunch of cash on a flight? But then... that nagging feeling.
My friend Sarah tried it once, to get to Denver. She booked a flight from New York to LA, with a layover in Denver, but only got off in Denver. She thought she saved a fortune. But then, her luggage went on to LA, which was a total nightmare to sort out! Days of phone calls, a stressed-out Sarah, the whole shebang. Was it really worth it? I don't think so.
And the idea of the airline finding out and, like, banning me? That's a terrifying thought. I'm picturing myself at the airport, ticket in hand, only to have some stern-faced employee telling me "sorry, ma'am, you're not going anywhere." Just the thought gives me the shivers. Plus, it just feels…wrong. I know, I know, it's probably only a small percentage of people that get caught, but still! It's not really honest, is it? Like sneaking a cookie from the jar when your mom’s not looking. I feel better sleeping at night knowing I paid the full price and didn't pull any fast ones.
So yeah, while the savings are tempting, the stress, the potential hassle, and that whole ethical gray area...it's just not worth it to me. I'll gladly pay a little extra for a bit of peace of mind. Way less stressful that way, you know?
