Is entry permit the same as visa?

Is an entry permit the same as a visa? Nope, not at all! It’s confusing, I know, right? I remember when I first traveled to the UAE, I was so mixed up about this whole thing. I thought I was good to go with just the visa. A visa, you see, is like getting pre-approved, like saying, “Yeah, you’re probably okay to come in.” It’s that initial nod, that “in principle” agreement. But then there’s the entry permit – that’s the real deal. It’s the electronic document they issue after you get the visa. So, you get the visa, and then you apply for the entry permit… Makes sense? Maybe not entirely, I get it. It’s a bit like getting permission to apply for permission, which feels a little redundant, doesn’t it? Anyway, the entry permit is what actually lets you travel to the UAE, and it tells you how long you can stay and what you’re allowed to do there. For example, my friend got a visa for tourism, then got his entry permit which specified he could stay for 30 days. It’s like the golden ticket, finally! So, visa – initial approval.
