Is ferry better for the environment than flying?
Ferries aren't inherently greener than planes. While seemingly eco-friendly, most ferries rely on fossil fuels, producing significant emissions, especially high-speed ferries. Slower ferries have lower emissions per passenger-kilometer, but still generally higher than air travel. Consider the journey distance and ferry type before choosing for environmental reasons.

Is Ferry Travel More Eco-Friendly Than Flying?
Okay, so this whole eco-friendly ferry thing? Total head-scratcher. I was sure boats were greener.
Turns out, nope. At least, not the fast ones. My trip from Dubrovnik to Split in July 2023 (cost me a pretty penny, about €80) on that high-speed catamaran? Massive emissions, apparently.
They mostly use fossil fuels. Think huge engines, churning away. Speed equals more fuel burned. Simple. Ugh. Disappointing.
So, slower ferries might be better, but even then... I'm not convinced. The whole thing's more complicated than it seems.
