Is it cheaper to shop in Bangkok or Pattaya?
Okay, so, is Bangkok cheaper than Pattaya for shopping? I'd say, yeah, generally. I mean, Pattaya has some great markets, don't get me wrong. I remember this one time, wandering through this night market, the smells of all that street food, amazing! Cosmetics, clothes, all sorts of stuff. But, you know, Bangkok… it's just huge. Think about it. More competition, right? So the prices tend to be lower. Like, I was looking for these specific elephant-print pants – totally touristy, I know – but I found them way cheaper in Bangkok's Chatuchak Weekend Market than anywhere in Pattaya. It wasn’t even close! I think I paid, like, half the price? Maybe even less. It's just that Bangkok has so much more of everything. More shops, more stalls, more everything. Which, I guess, drives the prices down? Makes sense, doesn't it? So yeah, while Pattaya is fun for a little retail therapy, if you’re serious about saving some baht, Bangkok’s your best bet.
