Is it mandatory to pay for a seat in a flight?

No, seat selection isn't always mandatory. Many airlines, particularly on domestic flights, don't charge. However, budget carriers frequently do. Full-service airlines may include it in the ticket price. Always check the airline's specific policies before booking to confirm their seat selection fees.

Is a plane seat always a paid item?

Is a plane seat always a paid thing? Hmmm, let me tell you what I think.

No, no way. Not always. It’s more like… airlines have different ideas, you know? Some let you pick free during check-in, maybe 24 hours before, usually that.

Budget airlines? Oh boy, those guys love to charge for everything. Remember that flight Ryanair from Dublin to London Luton (August 2018) I ended up paying like extra 20 quid just because wanted sit next window lol. Lesson learned that day.

But some big name airlines will chuck in seat choice included in price, especially domestic. Like, I fly United around US all time, usually I got seat included, even bulkhead.

So… before you click ‘buy’, look really close. See policy there. Save yourself some money. Trust me. It hurts when you have pay more. Moneycontrol website I read it says same thing.

Do I need to pay for a flight seat?

A seat’s guaranteed with your ticket.

Choice? That costs extra. Airlines assign seats. Free? Usually.

  • Basic Economy: Chance of middle seats.
  • Family Travel: Pay up for togetherness, often.
  • Elite Status: Perks exist. Sometimes.
  • Random Assignment: Check-in roulette. Feels like it.
  • Exit Rows: Legroom taxes apply.

Is it worth it? Depends. The algorithm decides. I pay. Maybe.

Do I have to pay for a seat?

Ugh, seat fees! Reminds me of that flight to Cancun in July 2024. Total nightmare.

I booked the cheapest ticket, duh, ’cause vacation funds were tight. I figured, hey, a seat’s a seat, right? I was so wrong!

Checking in online, bam! Assigned middle seat. I was sandwiched between a snoring dude and some kid kicking my seat for like, 4 hours. Ugh!

Never again. Now, I always pay the extra $20 (or whatever it is now!) just to choose an aisle seat. Worth every penny for my sanity. Seriously!

  • Lesson Learned: Cheap ain’t always cheerful.
  • Aisle Seat Priority: Legroom > saving $20.
  • Snoring Dudes are the Worst: Book accordingly.
  • I think it was flight 787 from Chicago at 8 AM, I still remember
  • Extra Money: Always!
  • Or maybe it was flight 747, lol. I am getting old

What happens if you dont buy a seat on a plane?

Okay, so, like, this happened last summer. Flying Frontier, never again. Newark, sweaty and gross.

Didn’t pay for a seat. Figured, eh, it’s only a two-hour hop to Orlando. Big mistake.

Got to the gate, checked in. Random seat assignment: middle. Ugh.

Asked nicely if there were any other options. Nada. Zip. Zero.

They said the flight was completely full. Awesome. Seriously.

Squeezed between a dude with massive arm spread and a screaming toddler. Fun times!

I swear, my shoulder was asleep for, like, the entire vacation. Never again.

  • Frontier Airlines: Nope.
  • Middle Seats: Double Nope.
  • Paying for Seats: Totally Worth It.
  • Personal space: Priceless
  • Would I do it again? Absolutely not, lessons learned!

Seriously, paying for the seat is EVERYTHING. Learned my lesson. Now I pick my seat even if it’s, like, an extra 30 bucks or whatever. SO worth it for avoiding that level of misery. Never again will I fly “random seat roulette”. Ugh, still gives me shivers thinking about it. Imagine being in the back row by the bathroom.

Should you buy a seat on a plane?

Paying for a seat? Well, it kinda depends. Legroom is the holy grail, ain’t it? Especially on long-haul flights, totally worth it for tall folks.

  • Extra legroom: Pay up, my friend.
  • Group seating: Sanity saver, particularly if traveling with little ones.

Then again, maybe rolling the dice is fine. I once ended up next to a mime on a red-eye… Quite the experience!

  • Budget: A major player.
  • Risk tolerance: Feeling lucky?

Essentially, think about your needs versus the dent in your wallet. Some airlines let you snag good seats at check-in too, so check that out. The extra room does reduce my need for a massage post-flight, and that is worth a few bucks, indeed.
