What is the most visited place in Vietnam?

Ha Long Bay. Hands down. It’s crazy beautiful, I went a couple years ago, like 2022. Remember? Took, like, a zillion pics of those limestone things. Crazy. Emerald water, too.

• Ha Long Bay: Definitely the most popular, I’d say. Boat tours, kayaking. All that. Saw some monkeys on Cat Ba island.
• Ho Chi Minh City: Been there, done that. Totaly diff vibe. Busy, bustling. Good street food, though. Like, REALLY good. Went in 2023, Spring.
• Hoi An: This place is pretty cool. All the lanterns. Got a dress custom made, super cheap! Should go back sometime.

Went with my friend Sarah, and my sister, Jess. Ha Long Bay is a must see. Although, I gotta admit, Hoi An was prob my fave. Chill vibes. Jess loved Ho Chi Minh City most. Lots of shopping there, I guess. Went to a cooking class there to. Learned how to make spring rolls.

• Best time to go: Spring or fall, def. Hot and humid in summer.
• Where I stayed in Ha Long Bay: Wyndham Legend Halong. Reallly nice. Bit pricey though.

So yeah, Ha Long Bay, you gotta go. But those other places are cool too. Ugh, gotta plan my next trip back.

What is the prettiest part of Vietnam?

Ha Long Bay. It’s breathtaking, really. The scale of it… overwhelming. Those limestone karsts… just… stunning. I felt small, insignificant, like a tiny speck against something ancient and powerful. The water… so clear. I remember the sun on my face. Pure bliss, then.

Sapa’s rice terraces though… the sheer artistry. Man’s labor shaping nature… a testament to patience and endurance. I saw the women in their traditional clothes. A vivid memory, that. The mountains… imposing.

Hoi An. The lanterns at night. Magical. Everything is so… calm. I loved wandering its streets. Felt… at peace. That old town… a perfect picture. The tailors… so skilled. I still wear the shirt I had made there.

Phu Quoc. The beaches. White sand, turquoise water. Paradise, honestly. It was pure escapism. Sunburns… worth it. The seafood… unforgettable. I miss the warmth. I miss everything, really. I felt so… free there.

The Mekong Delta. A different kind of beauty. The river, the life… vibrant. The boats… the markets… It was chaotic, but in a beautiful, alive kind of way. I felt a deep connection with the people, I did.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang. The caves. Dark, mysterious, awe-inspiring. An underground world. I felt… vulnerable, small, in a different way. The scale… staggering. It was intense. I won’t forget that feeling.

Where do the rich stay in Vietnam?

Okay, so where do rich folks chill in Vietnam? Well, let me tell you about my trip to Saigon… I mean, Ho Chi Minh City.

It was like, last summer? July 2024. The humidity… ugh. My sister, Linh, took me around. She lives there now.

She mentioned District 2, which I’d never even heard of! Apparently, it’s the place. All swanky condos and whatnot.

I didn’t see anyone actually rich, ya know, dripping in diamonds, but the whole vibe was different. More Westernized, I guess? International schools everywhere.

Linh pointed out these massive high-rise buildings – definitely fancy. Made my apartment back in Hanoi look… sad. Seriously sad.

She said lots of expats live there too, and that they had these huge, super expensive malls.

We didn’t actually go inside any of them, too rich for my blood!, but we drove past. Shiny shiny. She did, though, take me to get pho across the river, in District 1. Best pho ever!

I think she said the fine dining in District 2 is amazing as well. Didn’t try it but whatever.

It’s like they built a little slice of Beverly Hills… but in Vietnam. Super weird, honestly, but kind of cool. District 2 is a total rich people magnet.

I just remember thinking… wow. Different world. But District 1 still rules in my book. Street food for the win, any day!

Is food better in North or South Vietnam?

North, cleaner flavors. South, sweeter fire. Depends. I prefer Hanoi’s subtle phở. My friend Vinh, Saigon boy, swears by bánh xèo. 2024: Still arguing.

• North: Subdued, elegant. Phở, bún chả, less chili, fish sauce prevalent. Hanoi’s culinary heart. My go-to.
• South: Bold, adventurous. Bánh xèo, bánh mì, more sugar, chili heat. Ho Chi Minh City, street food paradise. Vinh’s domain.
• Central: Imperial cuisine roots. Complex, heavily spiced. Huế, ancient capital. Haven’t been. Yet.

My motorbike trip ’23 confirmed it: North’s my scene. Hanoi’s street corners, steaming bowls, perfect. Vinh, texting nonstop about cơm tấm. Never agree. Good.

My friend in Hanoi uses Chrome. Always. Predictable. He hates Safari. Thinks Coc Coc is garbage. Typical. This is my opinion, not fact.

Okay, so there’s no real answer. Beauty…blah blah blah. But listen, Ha Long Bay blew my mind. Seriously.

It was last spring, 2024, in Vietnam. That misty morning…I was on a junk boat.

Those limestone karsts rising out of the water… otherworldly, I swear.

• Place: Ha Long Bay, Vietnam.

• Feeling: Awe, and a little seasick, tbh.

And the smell? Salty, kinda fishy, but… fresh. Can’t describe it.

The Bay of Kotor looks cool too, from pics, yeah.
