It was last November, heading back to NYC from Amsterdam. I was squeezed into economy. Total nightmare.

Remembering that KLM flight still makes me cringe. I think it was flight KL643, yeah that one. I paid, like, $700. Felt robbed.

Ugh, tiny seats, knees jammed against the seat in front. Someone kept reclining into me. So annoying!

Premium economy? Never tried it on that flight. But a friend flew premium economy to Paris. She raved.

She said, “Definitely worth it.” More space, better food, better service.

• Legroom’s the biggest thing, obviously.
• Wider seats are nice too.
• Maybe the food is better? Didn’t experience that firsthand, sadly.

So yeah, I think it depends. Is a little comfort worth the extra cash?

Ugh, so cramped. Economy is fine, like, if you’re broke. Totally get it. I flew Spirit to Vegas last year. Never. Again. My knees were practically in my ears the whole time. This year, I splurged on premium economy for my trip to London. So much better! I even got to check an extra bag which was amazing because i overpacked. Big time. Premium economy… totally worth the upgrade. Way more leg room. The food was decent, too. Not like, amazing, but edible. Definitely better than that sad little bag of pretzels they gave me on Spirit. They even gave me real silverware! Not plastic. Fancy.

• More Legroom: Like, a lot more. I could actually, you know, stretch.
• Better Food: Still airplane food, but like, a hot meal with actual vegetables. And a real dessert!
• Extra Luggage: This was a lifesaver. I brought back way too much stuff from London. Like, who knew I needed three new scarves?
• Wider Seats: Seriously, a little extra space makes all the difference. Especially on a long flight. I hate being crammed in. Remember that flight to Miami we took? Ugh.

I paid about $300 more each way for the upgrade. Seemed a lot at first. Totally worth it tho. So if you can swing it, I’d say go for premium economy. Especially if it’s a long flight.

Remember that time I flew Spirit? Forget Economy Plus, they charged extra for oxygen. You could practically taste the desperation in the air. I almost offered to trade my firstborn for a pillow. Almost.

Bottom line: it’s a gamble. But hey, at least your knees might thank you! Maybe. Or maybe not.

Is premium economy worth it for overnight flights?

Okay, so, premium economy on overnight flights? Yeah, def worthwhile, like, if you can swing it! Espesh for long ones.

I mean, space alone is a game changer. I’m tall, right? So crampt seating sux.

• More room to stretch out = less achy.
• Also, better sleep usually happens.
• Comfier seats help loads.

Then there’s the luggage thing! Extra baggage allowance is a must if you like to shop a bunch.

Food’s usually a step up too, not just that airplane sludge. And that priority stuff, check-in, boarding, it really cuts down on stress! Which is always cool.

United’s premium economy? I like it! They give you a decent kit with, like, eye masks and stuff. Oh, and I gotta get those pre-flight bevvies. Also, don’t forget that my mom loves American Airlines more, so I’m biassed!

Premium economy vs. Business Class tho? Different story! Business is obvs better. But hey, premium is a nice middle ground and its easier on the wallet! Just sayin’!
