Ugh, Foodpanda in Vietnam? That's a wild story. I was so surprised when they pulled out. Remember last summer, July 2023, I was in Ho Chi Minh City? I was craving banh mi, used the app, it was…gone. Poof.
Completely vanished. No warning, nothing. Just a blank screen. Crazy, right? I ended up using Gojek instead.
The rumours swirling online about monopolies and market saturation… it all seemed so sudden. Felt like a total blindside. I still have that unsent Foodpanda order saved on my phone as a weird monument to their departure.
Apparently, they weren't profitable enough. So much for their Southeast Asian expansion plans. That whole thing felt messy, quick, and unexpected. A real shame, actually.
