Totally! Vietnam? Safe and cheap? Yeah, pretty much. I was there last October, in Hoi An specifically, and felt perfectly fine. Little petty theft maybe, but nothing major.
Amazing food, though. Seriously amazing. Ban mi for, like, 20,000 dong – that's less than a dollar. Crazy cheap.
Best spots? Ha Long Bay was breathtaking. Stunning limestone karsts. Cost a bit more, around $150 for a day trip, but worth every penny.
Sapa in the north is gorgeous too. Rice terraces, amazing views, more expensive accommodation wise, but beautiful. Still affordable compared to Europe.
Honestly, I felt safer there than in some parts of my own city. Just use common sense, be aware, and you’ll have a blast. Totally recommend it.
