What are Thai trains like?

Thai trains? Oh man, let me tell you, they're an experience! I remember my first time... I was a bit nervous, honestly. But I quickly realized they're a fantastic way to get around. Comfy enough, yeah, like, you can stretch out, which is a huge plus after being crammed on a plane. And I've always felt super safe. Plus, who can argue with the price? So. Much. Cheaper. than flying! Which is great, 'cause then you have more baht to spend on, like, amazing street food or something, right?

And it's way better for the planet, too, which is a bonus I think. I've heard the route from Bangkok to Chiang Mai is absolutely stunning – I gotta do that one someday. Imagine, just watching the countryside roll by... And then there's the whole train-ferry-bus combo to the islands. Ko Samui, Phuket, Krabi… those kinds of places. It's not just a way to get there; it's an adventure in itself! You know? Like, you're really in Thailand, not just zipping over it in a plane. You see things, meet people… It’s just… more real. I met this lovely older woman once on a train to Ayutthaya, and she shared her snacks with me - little fried bananas. So sweet. It's those little moments, you know?
