What are the cons of Shinkansen?

Okay, so you want me to dish on the downsides of the Shinkansen, huh? Alright, I can do that! It's not all sunshine and bullet-train speeds, you know.

So, what's not to love about the Shinkansen? Well, let me tell you, one thing that kinda bummed me out a bit was the view situation. I mean, you're whizzing by at like, a million miles an hour (okay, maybe not a million, but it feels like it!), and you get these tiny glimpses of the countryside. You blink, and POOF, it's gone!

I was really hoping to get an amazing view of Mt. Fuji, you know? I'd seen all these gorgeous photos beforehand, picturing myself gazing at it majestically from the train. But honestly? I think I caught, like, a fleeting shadow of it behind some buildings. It was... anticlimactic, to say the least. Is it just me, or does that happen to everyone?

And get this: the one time I took the Shinkansen and was actually ready with my camera, it was, like, the cloudiest day EVER. Seriously, talk about bad luck, right? So, not only was I speeding past everything, but everything was also shrouded in grey. Argh! It was like the universe was conspiring against me and my scenic train ride.

Plus, even if the weather's perfect and you DO manage to spot something cool, the speed makes it really hard to enjoy it. It's like... a flash of green, a blur of houses, and then BAM! You're already on to the next thing. It's a bit of a sensory overload, and not in a good way. I mean, is it just me, or is trying to take a decent photo practically impossible?

So, yeah, while the Shinkansen is super convenient and efficient and all that jazz, if you're really hoping for a leisurely, scenic journey, you might want to consider something else. Maybe a local train, or even a bus? I know, slower, but hey, at least you can actually see stuff! I mean, isn't that the whole point sometimes? Just a thought!
