What are the requirements for UK visiting?

Ugh, applying for a UK visa is such a headache! You absolutely need a valid passport – obviously. Then, they want proof youre not going to become a burden: bank statements showing you have enough money for the trip and your flight home. And, of course, they need to know why youre going and that youll actually leave afterwards! It feels like theyre trying to predict the future! So much paperwork!

So, you wanna visit the UK? Let me tell you, getting a visa is a beast. Seriously, I went through this a few years ago, and I still have nightmares about the paperwork!

First off, you definitely need a passport, like, duh. Mine was about to expire, which added a whole other level of stress, let me tell you. Passport photos? Don’t even get me started. I took about a million before I got one that didn’t make me look like a startled badger.

Then comes the fun part – proving you’re not planning to, you know, stay. They want bank statements. Loads of them. Showing you have enough money to, well, live and breathe for however long you’re there, and, crucially, enough to buy a ticket home. I remember scrambling to meet their requirements – I even had to ask my parents for a little help, which was slightly embarrassing at my age! It felt like they were judging my entire life savings, down to the last penny!

And the why? Oh boy, the why. They want a detailed itinerary – like, seriously detailed! I had to list every single hotel, every planned activity, even what I planned to eat for dinner on some nights. It felt utterly absurd! It’s like they’re expecting you to write a novel, not just a travel plan.

Honestly, the whole process felt incredibly invasive. It’s one thing needing to show you can support yourself, but trying to prove you’ll go home? It feels like they’re trying to read your mind. What are they gonna do? Put a tracking device on my suitcase? (Okay, maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but you get the picture.) Anyway, good luck! You’ll need it.
