Ugh, traffic. Just thinking about it makes me want to curl up in a ball. So, you’re wondering which Aussie cities are the worst for traffic, right? I feel you. I’ve spent way too many hours of my life stuck in Sydney traffic, staring blankly at brake lights. It’s enough to make you question everything, you know?

Anyway, apparently, Melbourne takes the cake – or should I say, the traffic jam? They’re looking at a whopping 65 hours a year lost to sitting in traffic. Sixty-five! Can you even imagine? That’s like a whole week of your life, just…gone. Poof! Vanished into the fumes. I remember one time in Melbourne, I was trying to get to the airport for a flight to Bali – a much-needed holiday, I might add – and it took me three hours. THREE. HOURS. To get to the airport. I nearly missed my flight. I still have nightmares.

Sydney’s not far behind, though, at a still-pretty-awful 51 hours. Perth’s at 42, which, while still frustrating, feels almost… manageable, in comparison? Maybe I’m just desensitized after years of Sydney. The Gold Coast’s surprisingly high, at 40 hours – I guess all those tourists add up! Then there’s Newcastle and Adelaide, with 39 and 30 hours respectively. Still a lot, obviously, but, you know, it could be worse. I suppose it all depends on your perspective, huh? It’s definitely all relative, I guess.

So yeah, there you have it. The data is pretty clear: Melbourne’s the undisputed king (or should I say, congestor?) of Aussie traffic jams. My advice? Pack snacks, a good playlist, and maybe a decent book. You’ll need it.
